Emirates Expands in Eastern Europe

Emirates recently announced a new daily service from Dubai to Kiev, marking expansion in Eastern Europe through the airline’s first route to the Ukraine. The new destination is Emirates’ 35th passenger route in Europe, which will begin on January 16th.

The Kiev route launch will follow several others, including that of Stockholm on September 4th, the Philippines on October 1st, and the service from Milan to New York on October 1st. Emirates is also expanding its Dakar operation with a new service to Guinea in October.

Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations West Hubert Frach explained: “We see strong potential in the Ukraine through its agribusiness, heavy machinery industries, technology and tourism.”

Experts predict Ukraine’s GDP growth to improve dramatically over the next three years. Building materials such as steel are in high demand, and consumer confidence is increasing as well.
