Economic cooperation between China and Europe is the focus of a meeting which took place in early June in Tangshan of Hebei province in China. The Chinese Premier Li Keqiang praised the meeting in a letter in which he said that the Chinese government supports the provinces and cities of China and the Central and Easter European countries to help each other grow economically. He mentioned the 16+1 areas of cooperation discussed at the summit, including production capacity, trade and intercommunication.
Delegates from over 15 Chinese provinces and 50 CEE states came together to discuss cooperation at the local levels.
Li added that China is in favor of local governments taking a larger role in the opening up and development of China. He said that he is optimistic that the discussions will add a new impetus to the 16+1 cooperation.
CEE leaders, such as Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Petar Ivanovic, agreed with Li saying that the 16+1 cooperation, as well as the meeting with local officials is a cruciela way to increase bilateral political mutual trust, corporate cooperation, and regional changes.
The opening ceremony featured Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai. He hoped that China and the CEE countries will advance their cooperation and take it to the next level.
“China attaches great importance to the China-Europe comprehensive strategic partnership and is committed to promoting China-CEE cooperation,” Ma said.
