The Ukraine: Milling Wheat Versus Feed Wheat

The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry says that the quality of harvested wheat improves. For today, a ratio of milling wheat against feed wheat is estimated as 70 percent against 30 percent, although several weeks ago they spoke about 60 percent against 40 percent, the ministry press service informs.
9.4 million tons of grain came to certified storage facilities, including wheat – 6 million tons, barley – 2 million tons, peas – 67,900 tons and rye – 64,700 tons.
Out of 6 million tons, first class wheat makes up 14,000 tons (0.2 percent), the second class wheat – 1 million tons (17. 5 percent) and the third class – 2.4 million tons (40.0 percent). In 2010, farmers got 17.7 million tons of milling wheat or 45 percent of the yield, fodder – 21.5 million tons or 55 percent of the output.
